Villa-Lobos' cello, with Hugo Pilger

Hugo Pilger is a cellist, with a PhD in Music from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). He studied with Marcio Malard and Alceu Reis. He has performed, as a soloist, in front of several orchestras. He toured several countries in Europe, South and North America. With the pianist Lúcia Barrenechea he released the double CD, DVD and BluRay entitled “Presença de Villa-Lobos na Música Brasileira para Violoncello e Piano”, a recording that contains the first record of the cello that belonged to the composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, a Martin Diehl of 1779, a project that was among the three finalists for the 2015 Brazilian Music Award. He is the author of the book Heitor Villa-Lobos, the cello and its idiomaticism.[3]. In 2016 he recorded the solo CD entitled Hugo Pilger interprets Ernani Aguiar with works for cello by composer Ernani Aguiar.
