The Fred Schneiter Guitar Exhibition and the Fred Schneiter National Guitar Competition are traditional events in the Latin American guitar scene. Created and maintained by Luis Carlos Barbieri in honor of his partner, Brazilian guitarist and composer Fred Schneiter, who died prematurely at age 41 in 2001.

The Exhibition has been held annually since 2004 and the Competition, one of the most important in Brazil, which has revealed important names for the instrument, has been held biannually since 2002.
